A cat sitter looks after your cat in your own home while you are away. It is more than food & litter: a good visit keeps your cat’s routine steady, checks they are well & lets you know how they are. This is what happens when PN or David looks after your cat.
Before you go: the meet & greet
We start with a free meet & greet at your home. PN comes to meet you & your cat & to learn the routine: what they eat & when, where the litter tray & food are kept, favourite spots, whether they like a fuss or space, & anything that worries them. We also talk through medication, your vet’s details & how you would like us to contact you.
What happens on a visit
- We let ourselves in quietly & say hello, then see where your cat is & how they seem.
- We give food & fresh water, following your cat’s usual diet & portions.
- We scoop the litter tray & change the litter as needed.
- We spend time with your cat, with play, a fuss or simply quiet company, whichever suits them.
- We check appetite, behaviour, litter habits & general condition, & look for anything unusual.
- We send an update, usually with a photo or video.
Medication & special diets
We can give tablets & liquid medicine, & follow prescription or special diets, as agreed at the meet & greet. We will ask you to show us exactly how your cat takes it, & we keep to the dose & times you give us.
Looking after your home
Visits also keep an eye on your home. We can bring in post, open & close curtains, & adjust lights so the house looks lived-in.
Updates while you are away
You will not be left wondering. We send regular messages with photos or video & brief notes on how your cat is eating, behaving & settling. Tell us how often you would like to hear from us.
If something is wrong
If we see anything worrying, such as a change in appetite, hiding, vomiting or limping, we contact you straight away. If it is urgent, we contact your vet using the details you leave, & we agree in advance what you would like us to do.
What we need from you
- A key or access arrangement, agreed at the meet & greet.
- Your cat’s food, litter & any medication, with instructions.
- Your vet’s details & an emergency contact.
- Any quirks: hiding places, nervous moments, doors that must stay shut.
How often should a sitter visit?
Most adult cats do well with one or two visits a day. Kittens, older cats & cats on medication may need more. We will advise at the meet & greet.
