What happens in hot weather?

Hot weather can be uncomfortable & potentially dangerous for cats, particularly elderly cats, long-haired breeds, overweight cats, or cats with underlying medical conditions. During warmer periods, extra attention is given to hydration, ventilation, & comfort. Water bowls are refreshed regularly, curtains or blinds may be adjusted where appropriate to keep rooms cooler, & cats are monitored carefully for signs of heat stress. Owners are kept updated if there are any concerns, & welfare checks become especially important during heatwaves or periods of unusually high temperatures.
